A young man was slashed across the face with a knife after a fight broke out at a Westfield shopping center in Perth.

A fight began between two men, one of them armed with a knife, at the Westfield Carousel shopping center in the city’s south-east about 3.30pm on Friday.

A 20-year-old man suffered facial injuries as the attacker fled the scene, leaving behind a knife which was seized by police.

A WA Police spokesperson said officers are searching for the stabbing man.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public or any other cause for alarm,” they said.

“Several police resources remain at the scene.”

Social media users reported that shoppers were locked in the complex and “told to stay quiet.”

One person claimed there was “blood on the ground” and “a lot of police.”
