A four-year-old girl was abducted by a stranger from a busy Westfield shopping centre in Sydney on Sunday night, before the girl’s mother found them in another store.
Police said an unknown woman approached the girl inside a store at Westfield Eastgardens at about 6:20 p.m., then picked her up and took her to another store.
The girl’s mother was able to recover her daughter after locating her in the second store.
Police have released an image of a woman they believe may be able to assist their investigations.
The woman is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with short black hair.
She was seen wearing a red headband, a black jacket, black pants and a multi-colored shoulder bag.
