Benji Marshall’s wife, Zoe, has responded to the recent controversy over her husband’s work ethic as coach of the West Tigers.

Rumors circulated in March that Benji wasn’t pulling out all the stops at the rugby league club, but he hit back and insisted he was “first in the building” before training every day.

He said he “prioritizes his family between 5 and 8 pm every night to find a “work-life balance”, and Wests Tigers boss Shane Richardson said his commitment to his job and his family should be admired.”

Now his wife Zoe, 39, has weighed in on the issue, describing his devotion to his family as “the best thing” and downplaying the controversy as “bizarre.”

“Because (Benji) doesn’t work 14 hours a day and wants him and his players to have a family life, it’s a good thing, not a bad thing,” he said.

Zoe and Benji’s 11-year marriage has seen them move interstate and abroad with their two children.

The rugby league WAG said she is proud the couple have managed to maintain such a strong relationship over the years.

Zoe and Benji walked down the aisle for the second time last year when they renewed their vows at home, surrounded by family and friends.

While pregnant with her daughter Ever, Zoe admitted the couple had split three times before marrying in 2013.

The family recently moved into a new $4.75 million family home in Sydney.
