Desperate search for missing paramedic who hiked to a national park in 43C heat ends with a grim discovery

The all-important search for a paramedic who went missing after taking a hike ended in tragedy after police discovered her body.

Fiona Lavelle, 41, was walking through Cape Le Grand National Park, which is 63km south-east of Esperance, Western Australia.

She had planned to walk in Hellfire Bay in nearly 110F weather on Tuesday morning before disappearing.

WA Police conducted a massive search for Ms Lavelle and found her car, a Nissan Navara, in a car park at the western end of Cape Le Grand Road on Tuesday night.
