Wendy’s to open hundreds of burger shops in Australia
- American fast food chain will open its first stores in Aus in 2025
Wendy’s officially comes Down Under with the American fast food chain announcing that 200 burger joints will open across Australia over the next decade.
The burger chain signed a franchise agreement with Flynn Restaurant Group, with the first Wendy’s stores opening in 2025.
Wendy’s president and international and chief development officer Abigail Pringle said demand from restaurants in Australia was clear following the success of a 2021 Wendy’s one-day pop-up event in Sydney.

Wendy’s, the world’s third-biggest burger chain behind McDonald’s and Burger King, has planned for 200 stores to be open to Australian customers by 2034.
Up to 10,000 staff members will reportedly be needed for the Down Under expansion.
The chain, which has more than 7,000 locations worldwide, is best known for its square burgers, fries and ‘Frosty’ frozen dairy desserts.

Wendy’s, the world’s third-biggest burger chain behind McDonald’s and Burger King, has planned for 200 stores to be open to Australian customers by 2034.
It differs from McDonald’s and Hungry Jack’s in having a strictly made to order policy and does not keep food hot using heat lamps.
Flynn’s Restaurant Group owns other popular American fast food chains including Applebee’s, Taco Bell, Panera, Arby’s, and Pizza Hut.
The group is the world’s largest restaurant franchise operator and took over Pizza Hut’s Australian franchises in June this year.
Founder Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy’s in Ohio on November 15, 1969, and it has become a worldwide success ever since.
The menu also offers chicken sandwiches, nuggets, vegetarian options, breakfast sandwiches, salads, along with an interesting array of sides, including chili con carne and stuffed potatoes.
Wendy’s recently expanded into the UK and Ireland and can be found in Europe, Asia and the US.
