Wendy Williams’ family has launched a GoFundMe to raise $50,000 to free the star from the “loneliness and deep isolation” of her conservatorship.
The fundraiser was created on January 15 by the family of the beloved American television host, 60, according to The US Sun.
It was released just before Williams, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023, called The Breakfast Club to ask for his freedom from the controversial conservatorship, which he likened to a “prison.”
In May 2022, Wendy was placed under court-ordered legal guardianship that oversees both her finances and health.
The GoFundMe campaign has so far raised $12,171 of its $50,000 goal. A touching photo on the fundraising page shows Wendy with her niece Alex Finnie.
The GoFundMe description reads: “For too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unfairly placed under guardianship and labeled incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently.”

It continues: ‘Their current situation is not only unfair but also deeply isolating. The tutor assigned to her cut off her connections with friends and family, leaving her without the support network she so desperately needs.’
“This isolation in New York has made it increasingly difficult for him to maintain his strength and stamina.”
‘Wendy’s family passionately advocates for her return to Florida, where she can once again be surrounded by the love and support of those who care about her. “They are suffering emotionally as they witness the toll their isolation is taking on their well-being.”
The description continues: ‘Unfortunately, they have exhausted their financial resources in their fight against this unjust guardianship and urgently need assistance in obtaining legal representation. Legal services can be prohibitively expensive and, without our support, they may struggle to navigate the complexities of the situation.’
‘Your generous contribution can make a profound difference! By coming together in solidarity, we can help speed Wendy’s return home and ensure she no longer has to endure the pain of loneliness and disconnection.’
‘It is essential that she is not left to suffer in silence in New York while her family awaits her return to the warm embrace of Florida, where she truly belongs. Let’s come together to support Wendy and her family during this critical time!’
The GoFundMe page is titled “Support Wendy Williams’ fight for independence.”
Previously, Williams’ niece Alex also claimed that she is not disabled and asked fans to help amplify the #FreeWendy movement.

It comes after Williams’ lawyer defended the decision to take her under conservatorship after the former talk show host called for her release.
After Williams called into The Breakfast Club radio show and insisted that he is not “cognitively disabled,” his attorney Roberta Kaplan stated otherwise, according to TMZ.
He explained that Williams suffers from frontal lobe dementia and emphasized that it is a neurological disease that has no cure.
Her attorney, who said he is only representing Williams in her lawsuit against A&E for producing the documentary Where’s Wendy Williams? – also explained that a state court declared that Williams cannot make legal and financial decisions on her own.
His attorney said he will need care for the rest of his life due to the degenerative nature of the disease.

On the morning radio show, Williams told co-host Charlamagne tha God how she felt like she was imprisoned because of her controversial conservatorship and said her life is “fucked up.”
She also slammed her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, during the call and claimed that she has been isolated from her family.
Due to the court order, Morrissey is prohibited from commenting on the story.
Williams also alleged that the constant interactions he has now are when his ‘babysitters’ give him his medications.
During the show, the former shock jock sobbed as she described her current situation as “emotional abuse.”
“I don’t have any cognitive impairment, but I feel like I’m in prison,” he told the radio show’s hosts. “I’m definitely isolated.”

It came shortly after a family member exclusively told DailyMail.com that Wendy is “clearer now than ever.”
Earlier this year, a source close to her family claimed that her guardian had “largely denied them contact” with her, according to People.
The source said her family is “supporting” her amid the court-ordered conservatorship.
“Wendy Williams’ family is unable to speak about her current condition and location due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have largely been denied contact,” the source told the outlet.
