Wendy Williams has spoken out following the arrest of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, saying it was “about time” the disgraced rapper was investigated.
Heralded for decades as rap royalty, Combs is currently awaiting trial at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City on charges of sex trafficking, extortion and transportation into prostitution.
Williams, 60, had always been an outspoken critic of the disgraced music mogul, 54, throughout his career, so he was unsurprisingly relieved to learn he was being investigated.
“What’s really strange is that so many people have said to me, ‘Wendy, you called him,'” she told DailyMail.com exclusively. ‘Including some people in my family who have said the same thing.’
The popular television host, who said she was “doing well” following her aphasia diagnosis and health problems, said she was horrified by the video of Combs abusing his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel lobby.

‘Do you know how I feel about that? It’s about time,’ he said. ‘Seeing this video on TV of (Cassie) being beaten… it was just horrible.
‘But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s so horrible.’
The Wendy Williams Show aired its final episode in June 2022 after 13 years, without Williams herself appearing.
He previously withdrew from the program in 2021 and embarked on what was initially supposed to be a temporary leave to deal with health issues.
Some fans have since claimed that if Williams had still been on air, she would have highlighted the fact that she had warned about his alleged behavior for years.
One fan wrote: ‘I really miss Auntie Wendy Williams on days like today. Nobody dealt with hot topics like her. Nobody. I can almost hear her criticizing Puffy (Diddy) and telling us that she told us so.
Because she always knew and tried to tell us. Many times. I hope he is better.”

Her fans have claimed that if Williams had still been on air, she would have highlighted the fact that her previous warnings had been accurate.
An awkward interview with Diddy from a 2017 appearance on The Wendy Williams Show resurfaced over the weekend.
The clip showed the controversial rapper talking to Williams about his son Kevin Hunt Jr., who was 16 years old at the time.
“And let me tell you something, as a mother of a boy who is now 16…” Williams said before Diddy interrupted: “Mhm, who I met backstage, he’s a great young man.”
Williams quickly thanked her for the compliment before appearing to zone out and stutter her words as Diddy stared at her.
Commenters quickly flocked to the old clip and noted how cagey Williams was when Diddy mentioned her son, who is now 24 years old.
“That was a threat, he’s saying to be nice,” one wrote.
Another said: ‘The way she hesitated you know she knew about him!’
“The way she wanted to say ‘stay away from my son,'” another added.

Combs pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was denied bail while he awaits trial in his federal sex trafficking case.
The music mogul has accused him of presiding over a sordid empire of sexual crimes; Inducing female victims and male sex workers to perform drugged sexual performances, sometimes lasting several days, called ‘Freak Offs’.
The indictment against him also alleged that he coerced and abused women for years while using blackmail and shocking acts of violence to keep his victims in line.
He was indirectly referring to an attack on his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, which was captured on video and caused a stir upon its release in May.
Combs insists he is innocent and plans to fight the legal case, according to his attorney Marc Agnifilo.
He also stated that Combs strongly believes this is a “racially motivated prosecution” and that he is being targeted because he is a “successful black man.”
Last year, Combs quickly settled a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Cassie in which she claimed he engaged in sex trafficking and abused her.
This comes after his attorney previously told the outlet that Combs “can’t wait” to testify in court.
Agnifilo, a former Manhattan deputy district attorney, said TMZ that Combs plans to “fight this case not only for himself, but for others in a similar position” who also face government persecution.
His attorney also said Combs has his family in mind and wants to show them that he is “the same man they have always known.”
Combs has been a major figure in the hip hop industry for the past three decades, having worked as a producer for artists such as Usher and Notorious BIG.
