Wendy Williams’ lawyer defended the decision to place her under conservatorship after the former talk show host argued for her freedom.

After Williams, 60, called into The Breakfast Club radio show and insisted he is not “cognitively disabled,” his attorney Roberta Kaplan stated otherwise, according to TMZ.

He explained that Williams suffers from frontal lobe dementia and emphasized that it is a neurological disease that has no cure.

Her attorney, who said he is only representing Williams in her lawsuit against A&E for producing the documentary Where’s Wendy Williams? – also explained that a state court declared that Williams cannot make legal and financial decisions on her own.

This comes after Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023.

His attorney said he will need care for the rest of his life due to the degenerative nature of the disease.

Kaplan also said Williams has bad days and also good days where he gets a lot of clarification, like when he called The Breakfast Club on Thursday morning.

On the morning radio show, Williams told co-host Charlamagne tha God how she felt like she was imprisoned because of her controversial conservatorship and said her life is “fucked up.”

She also slammed her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, during the call and claimed that she has been isolated from her family.

Due to the court order, Morrissey is prohibited from commenting on the story.

Williams also alleged that the constant interactions he has now are when his ‘babysitters’ give him his medications.

Previously, Williams’ niece Alex also claimed that she is not disabled and asked fans to help amplify the #FreeWendy movement.

During the show, the former shock jock sobbed as she described her current situation as “emotional abuse.”

“I don’t have any cognitive impairment, but I feel like I’m in prison,” he told the radio show’s hosts. “I’m definitely isolated.”

And he added: “Talking to these people who live here is not my thing.” I keep the door closed.

The television personality described the harsh reality of her daily life after being placed under guardianship.

‘I watch television. I listen to the radio. I look at the window. I sit here and my life happens.’

She said she no longer has the company of her cats, claiming they are “gone” and taken even though she “wanted them with her.”

The TV star revealed that she eventually hopes to move to Florida so she can live there with her family.

For now, the star is only focused on being able to travel to Miami next month to celebrate her beloved father’s birthday.

In an Instagram post before the interview took place, Charlamagne wrote a caption about conservatorships and guardianships, which she insisted are “designed to preserve dignity” and “not control.”

“Guardians and guardianships should exist to empower, protect and support people, not confine them to invisible prisons,” the talk show host wrote.

‘Tomorrow morning on @breakfastclubam #WendyWilliams will remind us that these systems must be transparent, compassionate and designed to preserve dignity, not control. Let’s discuss.’
