FX has been updated Welcome to Wrexham for a third season premiering in 2024. The news comes ahead of season two’s conclusion on December 13.
The fly-on-the-wall sports documentary series follows the exploits of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and their ownership of Wrexham AFC football club, the world’s third oldest professional football club, located in the working-class town of north Wales.
The first season followed the takeover of the club by Two Robs and their crash course in football fandom (and especially desperation) as Wrexham attempted promotion from the National League. Season two continues the club’s progress as Reynolds and McElhenney pour more money into Wrexham to achieve their promotion dreams.
Welcome to Wrexham has been hugely popular for Disney on FX in the US and Disney+ in the rest of the world. Season one is currently nominated for six Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.
The docuseries is produced by McElhenney, Reynolds, Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Nick Frenkel, George Dewey and Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma and Jordan Wynn of Boardwalk Pictures. Welcome to Wrexham is produced by More Better Productions, Maximum Effort Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment and Boardwalk Pictures.
