Les Lindarets in the French Alps is often referred to as the ‘goat village’, because during the summer months it is filled with ‘friendly’ goats that roam freely and welcome passing tourists.

In addition to its unique inhabitants, the village, located near the resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil ski area, boasts old chalets, cafés, restaurants and alpine meadows reminiscent of a “bygone world”.
The village has become a real tourist attraction and has earned a four out of five star rating on Tripadvisor based on nearly 200 reviews.

One reviewer, ‘Helen H’, wrote: ‘It’s a brilliant opportunity to meet the mountain goats. It’s worth the trip to walk around the village and feed them.
‘Shops sell goat food and the friendly goats will let you hand-feed them, although some of the more brazen ones will definitely try to steal your whole bag.’
User ‘susanann7’ described the village as a “delight” and noted that the “mountain views are stunning.” She added: “The kids can feed the wandering goats and everyone has a smile on their face.”
According to the Vallée d’Aulps website: ‘The village of Lindarets is undoubtedly a must-see for all families coming to this area to immerse themselves in an authentic experience.
The village has become a major tourist attraction and has earned a four out of five star rating on Tripadvisor. To get there, visitors have the option of driving or taking a cable car from a nearby village.
During the winter months, goats live in their stables and the village is transformed under a blanket of snow.

To reach the village, visitors can drive 20 minutes from Morzine along the main road towards Avoriaz, before turning off and taking a steep, winding road towards Les Lindarets.
There is also the option of taking the Ardent cable car, located 20 minutes’ drive from Morzine, which takes visitors directly to the village.
During the winter months, goats live in their stables and the village is partially hidden under a thick blanket of snow. The main road becomes a ski slope and is a popular stopping point for skiers and snowboarders.
