A miner and father is fondly remembered after his death in a tragic car accident.

Adam Hoyes, 44, from Rocky Point in Queensland, died after his Toyota Landcruiser overturned near the mining town of Weipa on Cape York Peninsula on Monday night.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Kerr Point Road around 10:30 p.m.

Emergency services responded and Hoyes was taken to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition, where he died on Wednesday.

Mr Hoyes’ wife Nat paid tribute to her husband, posting: “Adam tragically passed away after suffering a horrific car accident on Monday night in our hometown of Weipa.”

‘We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

“We will be arranging funeral plans to take place in Townsville, with details to be released at a later date.”

Friends posted messages of condolences on social media.

“Thinking of all of you at this devastating time, I hope the love and support of your family, friends and the Weipa community brings strength and comfort to you all,” a friend posted.

“I will never forget the memories of the shenanigans we got up to… RIP buddy,” wrote another.

Queensland Police are appealing for any information, witnesses or dash cams that may assist their investigation into Mr Hoyes’ crash.
