Despite plenty of opportunities to sweep in four games (aka “mop”), no team was able to sweep this weekend. And there were no three-game sweeps, either!
On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jordan Shusterman and Jake Mintz go over all of the weekend’s series and have plenty of segments to help us get through to Monday.
Jake and Jordan bring back one of their favorite segments, “Sorry For Your Mentions,” and read some of their favorite responses to Cubs social media posts. Then they move on to their “Nuclear Overreaction” segment and decide how the Pirates can boost their struggling offense. The top suggestion: bring Paul Skenes to the plate.
The guys laugh at Jose Iglesias’ musical performance after the Mets game in the “First Time For Everything” segment, and then present their “Player of the Weekend” award to the Giants’ Spencer Bivens, who made his first start, struck out Shohei Ohtani twice, and celebrated accordingly. After that, Jake went into turbo mode to power through the rest of the weekend’s games, and finally, they provide an update on the Home Run Derby.
