Thousands of NRL fans heading to Sydney this long weekend for the long-awaited grand final can expect sunny skies and pleasant weather.
Conditions in Australia look mostly clear this weekend, apart from some showers in the southeast on Saturday, with the east coast clear for the Storm-Panthers game on Sunday night.
Crowds of up to 80,000 are expected to flock to Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park, where temperatures are expected to reach a high of 28C.
Millions more Australians are looking forward to a long weekend.
The ACT, New South Wales and South Australia will have a holiday on Monday for Labor Day, while Queensland will enjoy one for the King’s birthday.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Angus Hines said parts of southern Australia could see light rain over the weekend.
“For Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney, Sydney, Saturday is more of a chance for some quick showers, with much of the day bringing good weather,” he said.
