The Princess of Wales’s elegant video announcing she has finished chemotherapy treatment has left some in royal circles worried she is echoing Meghan Markle, according to the Mail’s Richard Eden.
Speaking to Palace Confidential, Mail+’s weekly chat show, Richard said insiders believe the three-minute clip showing Kate with Prince William and their children in the countryside is “the kind of thing Meghan would have loved to do”.
They do not want Catherine to “become” Meghan, she added.
Richard also said the clip left him feeling “uncomfortable” and added that it appeared to be an attempt to create a “Hollywood trailer.”

Sitting alongside the Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English, he said: ‘A lot of people have said to me: ‘Oh, you know that’s the kind of thing Meghan would have loved to do, obviously being an actress and we don’t want Catherine to become Meghan.’
In 2022, Harry and Meghan released a shocking six-part documentary series on Netflix about their lives and the turmoil surrounding their decision to step down as working royals and move to the United States.
He presented personal reflections on their relationship along with photographs of them being affectionate and working on family life.
Kate and William have also attempted to use video footage in the past.
A five-minute film for the King’s Coronation featured clips of the couple and their children preparing for the royal event and in December they also released a video looking back on the year.

Richard added of this week’s video: “The royal family should be different. They should be dignified, not chasing this.”
-Yes, that is the way Catalina would have wanted to tell her story, but she is surrounded by advisors.
“And there are people who say, ‘We want to get a lot of views on YouTube or whatever, and I think the Royal Family should be above that.'”
“They don’t need to be the Kardashians.”
However, Rebecca English felt the images were an “honest” insight into Catherine and William’s lives, although she still stressed the need to remain “authentic” in their video communications.
“I think it was actually a very honest look at their lives and I wrote in my piece this week with William and Kate that basically what you see is what you get, you know, lack of technology with the kids, they spend a lot of time outdoors and that was actually represented very accurately in this video.”

The three-minute footage showed the Prince and Princess of Wales playing cards with their children on a picnic blanket and even featured Kate’s parents, although King Charles and Queen Camilla were not pictured.
The family was also seen on the beach and in a wooded area.
Rebecca believes the Royal Family’s use of video and social media has improved, but cautioned that content still needs to be authentic.
He added: ‘They are becoming more professional and improving their game, but I see that they also need to be authentic.
“I think it’s one of those things that needs to be done with some caution.”
