A couple took to TikTok to document the impressive renovation project they embarked on after purchasing a 1960s home.
Posting on the platform, Nicole Halliday shared images of all the things she and her partner Blair, from Scotland, had to do when moving into the house.
The video, which has more than 55,000 views, saw them begin by completely demolishing the kitchen, as well as the property’s dining room wall.
They then got to work steaming away wood chips and wallpaper from parts of the house so they could redecorate, and the couple noted that this particular task seemed “endless.”
Blair was then tasked with removing the kitchen tiles and plywood, which was a difficult challenge as they were “cemented to the floor.”

More “demolishing and wallpaper removal” was then necessary, with the camera panning to show a mountain of wood and wallpaper on a floor that is barely visible due to the large amount of rubble.
The couple concluded the video by noting that they were “expanding the pantry,” as well as sharing the good news that they had found “a cellar hidden under the floor hatch,” with all the bottles in the cellar unopened.
After Blair and Nicole moved into the house, the couple found a note from the home’s only previous owners that said, “We wish you every happiness.” Mum and Dad bought this first house as new build in 1962 for £3,141, so you are only the second owners.
“We have many happy memories from our childhood here and we hope you have happy times here too.”
The process of such a large rebuild has not been easy, and the couple admitted to discovering many cracks in the walls, as well as “leaks everywhere” resulting in “rotten floorboards.”
In addition to this, they stated that they were told the boiler was two years old, but later discovered that it was actually from 2010.
As you’d expect from a ’60s home, there was also the challenge of “layer upon layer of questionable wallpaper,” from floral patterns to bright yellow.
One room had a whopping six layers that had accumulated over the years.
However, they have shared images of the cellar, which appeared to have at least 50 unopened bottles of different varieties of wine that could be of enormous value.

There was one hidden gem that made all the challenges worth it: a wine cellar hidden under the hatch of her closet.
In fact, comments from viewers surprised by the amount of wine found by the couple urged them to appraise it as soon as possible.
One user wrote: ‘Get that wine appraised! “Keep one bottle, drink one bottle, and sell the rest.”
A second added: “You could make a fortune with that wine.”
Another commented: “I need to know you’ll try the wine.”
A fourth user said he was “lucky” to have “all that wine.”
