Two mechanics have revealed the most popular car brands that they say you should never buy.
Sherwood Cooke Jr. and his son, Sherwood Cooke III, who work at a Georgia-based auto repair shop. Royalty Auto Service recently went viral after sharing vehicles that they would never recommend to their clients.
The father-son duo explained in a recent TikTok video that cars made by Hyundai and Kia often had problems, so they advise against buying any of their models.
In the video, Sherwood III told his father he had a Hyundai for him to “check out,” explaining that it was a 2020 model with approximately 154,000 miles on it.
“It’s been checked out pretty regularly. Listen to it. Turn it on,” he told his father.

Sherwood Jr. then got into the black car and started it, and immediately a loud, disturbing noise began to emerge from the engine.
“It’s gone. That’s bad,” Sherwood Jr. said, shocked, before asking his son, “Has this ever had regular service?”
“Based on the Carfax, pretty consistently,” his son replied. “I think it was somewhere between 7,000 and 8,000 miles.”
He also explained that the vehicle did not need an oil service.
“150,000 miles is not that many miles,” Sherwood III noted.
“I’ll tell you now: You don’t see many Toyotas or Hondas with 150,000 miles and faulty engines,” his father added.
“We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, we just share our honest experience and opinion.”
“People always wonder why we never recommend Hyundai/Kia,” they wrote in a superimposed text.

They added in the title: “It’s a fairly normal occurrence.”
Hyundai owns about 33 percent of Kia Corporation and together the two companies constitute South Korea’s top two automakers.
The TikTok, which was viewed more than a million times, sparked fierce debate among viewers.
Many people who own Hyundai or Kia cars were quick to defend the brands, while others shared their horror stories.
“I’ve always had a Kia. Zero issues. Zero,” wrote one supporter. Another added: “This is my third Hyundai and I love it.”
“2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL: 141,000 miles… regular service as scheduled. Catastrophically failed engine and needed a new engine. Never again,” another person revealed.
“150,000 and needing a new engine is inexcusable,” said a fourth comment.
“Hyundai and Kia never die in Greece. They are one of the most reliable vehicles from Honda and Toyota of course,” said a fifth.
“I have a 2018 with 100,000 and I just had to change the engine, but it was under warranty because I bought it the week before,” another user shared.
The TikTok, which was viewed more than a million times, sparked a fierce debate among viewers.
“Hyundai basically ruined my life when the engine failed and the extended warranty I paid for would have covered it but Hyundai’s “lawsuit/extended warranty” ruined that,” another person wrote.
‘Hyundai didn’t cover it because “it didn’t exactly blow up in the way that the extended warranty claim covered.”
‘My extended warranty would still pay out if Hyundai wrote a letter stating they wouldn’t fix it.
‘Hyundai refused because they could fix my dead engine in the future if it blew up exactly the right way.
‘I found out that even if I could have gotten approval, there’s a two-year waiting list for engines.’
