Wayne Rooney has revealed that he watched the movie ‘Sister Act’ to calm his nerves ahead of the biggest games of his career.
The Manchester United legend won the Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow in 2008 and had plenty of time to spare before the game.
He also played in United’s Champions League final defeats against Barcelona in Rome in 2009 and at Wembley in 2011.

Rooney has revealed what the Red Devils stars did to distract themselves for those massive matches, as Paris Saint-Germain prepares for Bayern Munich in this season’s final on Sunday night.
‘I made the decision to turn off television, newspapers and everything online about the game,’ Rooney said The times.
‘The kick-off in Moscow was 10:45 PM local time and we had lunch at 12:30 PM, leaving us nearly eight hours to kill before heading to the stadium. Do you sleep for an hour, two hours, three hours – or don’t you sleep at all? In the end I only watched box sets of TV series and even watched an entire movie.

‘In 2009 in Rome, two days before United’s first final against Barcelona, we went to the Vatican and had almost the entire tour – which I found a bit strange.
For the 2011 final with Barcelona at Wembley, the whole team went to Jersey Boys in a theater in London. Frankie Valli was there. Good show – seen it a few times. The boys enjoyed it.

After leaving United, Rooney joined MLS side DC United before moving to Championship side Derby in January.
Rooney was also recently announced as England manager for SoccerAid’s charity match in September.
The Derby County captain has been given special leave from the Championship club to take a mid-season break in support of the charity match against the ‘Rest of the World’ team at Old Trafford, with Sam Allardyce and David Seaman acting as Rooney’s co-administrators.
SoccerAid is the world’s largest annual charity soccer game, raising money for UNICEF UK to give to underprivileged children around the world.
