Wayne Rooney was known for being a funny man during his glittering football career and the Manchester United and England legend has left his new team-mates in hysterics as he diversifies his portfolio since retiring.
On Sunday, Rooney, looking to return to management since being sacked as Birmingham boss in January, was announced as the latest star signing for EA Sports FC Pro Club Girth N Turf, which was founded by YouTubers Angry Ginge and Yung Filly .
And that night, Rooney made his debut for the club, but it wasn’t his playing skills that caught the eye, or perhaps ears, during the live broadcast.
After playing, Rooney expressed his desire to play again in the future, saying: “If [sic] If you want us to come back, I’ll come back.’ Yung Filly answered yes immediately.
However, the 38-year-old was quickly met with a jibe from Angry Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, who declared: “You can come back tomorrow, mate.” Don’t be shit again.

However, YouTuber Angry Ginge said he might do it if he sucks again, prompting quick mockery from Rooney.

This prompted Rooney to respond with a light smack as he responded: ‘Ah, redhead!’
Earlier on Sunday, Rooney had been revealed as Girth N Turf’s latest Pro Clubs signing.
Surprised by Rooney’s response, he provoked instant laughter from Burtwistle, whose disbelief at the scathing comment could not have been more obvious.
Rooney is the latest sports star to represent Girth N Turf, with teenage darts sensation Luke Littler playing in online Pro Clubs for them.
Sunday’s activity concluded a weekend for Rooney in which he was due to make his pundit debut on Match of the Day before having to withdraw due to injury.
He was in line to make his debut on the iconic BBC show on Saturday but was forced to pull out and Martin Keown replaced him.
And the former Everton striker revealed he had to cancel his appearance on the show after suffering an injury while on holiday.
Rooney wrote on
‘Unfortunately, I suffered a painful back injury while on holiday with my family, but I hope to be part of the team in the near future.
‘Good luck to Gary Lineker and the boys tonight. [sic] Show and see you soon.’

The show continued as usual and Rooney was replaced by MOTD 2 regular Martin Keown.
Show host Lineker responded by saying: There will be other opportunities. Get fit soon.’
Since retiring in 2021, Rooney has managed Derby, MLS side DC United and had an ill-fated season at Championship club Birmingham City.
The Blues sacked him in January after less than three months in charge and he is currently taking a break from the game to be with his family.
However, Rooney is keen to return to the side soon and has been linked with a possible move to Saudi Arabia to follow in the footsteps of former international team-mate Steven Gerrard.
England appeared as an expert for TNT Sports last month for their coverage of Manchester United’s victory over Everton.
He was also a studio pundit while the BBC covered Manchester United’s victory against Nottingham in the FA Cup in February.
