Don’t stop me now! Watch a girl, 4, dashes to the bell tolling the end of years of cancer treatment

This sweet video shows a four-year-old girl ringing the cancer-free bell after battling cancer for the past three years.

Phoebe Ashfield, from Dudley, West Midlands, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just seven months old in 2019.

She continued to relapse three times during her three years of treatment.

Her mom, Emma Wake, 30, captured the heartwarming moment as her daughter rang the free treatment bell surrounded by nurses as they cheered Phoebe and gave her a well-deserved round of applause.

At one point during Phoebe’s treatment, Emma was warned that it might not work, so the moment the bell rang was a sigh of relief after years of emotional torment.

Emma said: ‘At one point in her treatment I was told she wasn’t going to cope and was just preparing myself for the worst.

It’s devastating and heartbreaking to watch my little boy go through all of this.

When Phoebe was first diagnosed, I thought she had the wrong child, and it simply couldn’t be my daughter, because all she had was a cold and a chest infection and it couldn’t be cancer.

When I finally rang the bell, there’s such a mixture of feelings that you want to cry happy tears but still have that anxiety of wondering if he’ll come back, you don’t really know how to feel.

Phoebe started chemotherapy but unfortunately it wasn’t strong enough to keep the cancer away. She relapsed in June 2019 as she had to go for Car-T treatment.

Which involved taking her own stem cells and modifying them to fight cancer, and then coming back again in September.

Her mum, Emma Wake, 30, said: 'When Phoebe was first diagnosed I thought she had the wrong child, she simply couldn't be my daughter.

She was successful until January 2020 where she relapsed for the third time and needed a stem cell transplant, time was against us.

If there is one thing that comes from this is signing up to become a stem cell donor through DKMS and Anthony Nolan because without these selfless people, adults and children, my daughter would not be here to tell this story.

“If you can please register, you could save someone’s life.”
