A teenage P-plater is lucky to be alive after his car rolled onto the wrong side of a road and careened into oncoming vehicles during the evening rush hour.
Dashcam footage of the horror crash that took place on the Hume Highway at Casula, in Sydney’s southwest, last Tuesday night has been shared on social media.
A man and a woman were traveling together in the far right lane when they suddenly noticed a white Audi SUV repeatedly flipping onto the opposite side of the road after hitting a sedan.
The SUV crossed to the median and headed toward them, forcing the driver with the dash camera to brake sharply.
‘Wow, wow!’ the couple exclaimed.
The airborne Audi ended up spinning across all three lanes, with debris scattered all over the road, before coming to a stop after crashing into a pole.
‘Oh my god!’ the woman shouted.
The man added: ‘Oh, Jesus. Man!’
Dashcam captured the horrifying moment a van drove into oncoming traffic on the Hume Highway.
The SYUV turned to the opposite side of the road, crossed the median and entered the path of oncoming traffic (pictured).
Two other drivers were caught stopping and running to the driver’s aid.
The occupants of the dash-cam vehicle were shocked by the condition of the SUV as they drove past it.
‘Are you okay?’ said the woman.
The woman asked if they should check on the driver, but the man said, “I’m not involved.”
“But you have the dash cam,” the woman argued as they drove past the accident before the video ended.
Emergency services attended the scene.
“Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and were told that an Audi SUV and a Mitsubishi sedan had collided,” a New South Wales Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.
“With the SUV rolling and stopping against a pole.”
The spokeswoman added that the driver of the white van, with a P license plate, was a 17-year-old boy, who avoided serious injuries.
The truck of the 17-year-old P-plate driver stopped rolling and came to rest “against a pole.” Two motorists stopped to help him (pictured)
“(He) was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for lacerations and taken to Liverpool Hospital for further treatment and mandatory testing,” he said.
It was also a lucky escape for the 25-year-old woman driving the Mitsubishi sedan, who was uninjured.
The police established the crime scene.
An investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
The dash cam quickly went viral online, attracting more than 105,000 views within hours of being uploaded on Sunday night.
