- Unpleasant scenes took place inside the boxing ring on Wednesday
- Australian fight ended in chaos, with trainer beaten
- Shawn Porter called for severe punishment following the incident
Michael Zerafa’s fight against Tommy Browne ended in chaos after a brawl broke out between both fighters’ teams in the middle of the ring.
Browne retired after a dominant first round against Zerafa, citing a biceps injury when he quit on his stool.
Australian boxer Zerafa, unimpressed by his opponent’s withdrawal, vented his anger at Browne with a verbal tirade, prompting the loser’s trainer to march the boxer across the ring.
That caused a crowd of people from both sides to pour into the squared circle, and Zerafa’s brother stepped through the ropes and headed straight for Browne’s trainer.
He was then seen landing a right hook on the trainer’s chin in shocking scenes.
After the incident, Zerafa could be heard shouting “resign” in Browne’s direction before calling out to Nikita Tszyu.
‘I was in first gear. Nikita, I’m coming!’
The ugly scenes sparked outrage on social media, with boxing expert Peter Badel calling for a lifetime ban to be imposed on Zerafa’s brother.

Zerafa was outraged that the fight was stopped early and chaos broke out.
“I don’t think his brother should get involved in boxing again. That was a disgrace,” Badel said.
American boxing legend Shawn Porter said he wants the matter to “go to court”.
“That’s unacceptable. If Michael knows his brother has the ability to do that… he shouldn’t be on his side,” Porter said.
Zerafa’s brother, dressed in a grey tracksuit, was quickly escorted out of the premises.
Elsewhere, Nikita Tszyu claimed his tenth consecutive win to catapult himself into the top 15 of the super welterweight world rankings after stopping Koen Mazoudier in the ninth round.
