Moldovan Adil Osmanov was on a roll after claiming bronze in the men’s 73kg weight class on Monday, with a win over Italy’s Manuel Lombardo sealing his first Olympic medal.

However, when Osmanov, passionate, extended his right arm in jubilation after hearing the scores, his joy soon turned to pain.

The 24-year-old quickly grabbed his arm after being left in clear agony, before later reports revealed he dislocated his shoulder in celebrating so wildly.

Images showing the moment he suffered the injury quickly went viral on social media and fans were left in disbelief at the bizarre incident.

But their wild celebrations soon turned sour.

Fortunately, Osmanov was able to recover in time for the medal ceremony, as he stepped onto the podium and collected the first medal of his Olympic career.

She has since stated that she was advised to undergo shoulder surgery before the Games, but later put that aside to pursue her judo dreams.

The Moldovan athlete also dedicated the victory to his late father, saying: ‘I dreamed of making it to the Olympics.

‘It was not successful due to financial impossibility.

‘She dreamed of one of her children making it to the Olympics and winning a medal.’

Moldovan President Maia Sandu was quick to congratulate Osmanov after his success in Paris this week.

“Another bronze medal for Moldova!” Sandu wrote on X alongside a photo of herself after the competition.

“Congratulations to our judoka Adil Osmanov for his impressive performance at the Olympic Games. His achievement is a victory for all of us!”
