Jordan Spieth went off the roof of the clubhouse during a remarkable finish to his third round at the Valero Texas Open on Saturday.

The three-time Grand Slam winner shot an even-par 72 to remain three under par for the tournament, 12 shots off the lead in San Antonio.

But his scorecard told only half the story after Spieth finished with a double-bogey seven that included visits to a drainage ditch and the clubhouse roof.

Spieth’s problems began when he turned his drive left on the par-five final hole at TPC San Antonio.

That left the world number 19 near the foot of a tree, a few meters from the street. From there, Spieth opted to take a daring shot through more obstacles, rather than returning to the fairway.

Unfortunately, he only encountered more trouble: Spieth’s second shot ended up near a drainage ditch, still 600 feet from the hole.

With drainage between his ball and the hole, Spieth was forced to get creative. Because he was hitting from a penalty area, he received no relief. And so the 30-year-old once again opted to hit away from the green and toward the TPC San Antonio clubhouse.

“If you’re going to do that, I’m going to move my car,” someone, supposedly his caddie, was heard telling Spieth, who then asked an official: “If I hit it on the deck, where’s my delivery?”

After a long deliberation, the three-time major winner fired a shot toward the roof of the clubhouse. The ball slid into the ditch, sending the PGA Tour announcers into a frenzy.

‘This is absurd!’ one joked. “Just Jordan Spieth,” added another. But the shot allowed the 30-year-old to drop, not far from the fairway. From there, Spieth shot his approach toward the green.

Incredibly, that left him with a par putt from 53 feet. But Spieth, now visibly furious with himself and struggling to contain his emotions, finished with three putts for par.

'If I hit it on the deck, where's my fall?' Spieth could be heard asking an official.
