Terrifying images have emerged of the head-on collision that claimed the lives of two drivers on the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Four cars and a bus collided shortly before 2pm on Thursday and emergency services arrived at the scene to find a man dead in the rubble.
The driver of another vehicle, who died shortly after at the scene, had to be rescued by firefighters from the rubble.
Fortunately, the bus had no passengers on board and the driver was unharmed.

The vision shows a blue Hyundai i30 hatchback traveling in the outside lane before suddenly swerving into oncoming traffic.
For a few horrible seconds, he did not alter his course.

The blue hatchback then crashed head-on into a Hyundai Accent hatchback before briefly becoming airborne due to the impact.
Then it turned 180 degrees and stopped.
The entire front section was completely crumpled as smoke billowed from the destroyed engine.
Superintendent Clayton McDonald told reporters that the blue Hyundai had moved into the oncoming lane for an “unknown reason.”
“The investigation is ongoing, but the Harbor Bridge is covered by cameras that record at all times,” he added.
Two other adults, including a pregnant woman, suffered minor injuries and were rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.
The other two drivers involved will undergo mandatory testing, police said.

Scrap metal, broken glass and fluid from the accident were scattered on both sides of the road.

All traffic on the southbound bridge was stopped and only one northbound lane remained open, causing traffic chaos in the city Thursday afternoon.
The view from the Harbor Bridge showed two hatchbacks and an SUV with significant damage, as well as debris scattered across several lanes.
Police are now working to notify the next of kin of both victims.
A motorcyclist was arrested on the bridge after he allegedly broke through the road block and drove through the crash site.
At least three officers were seen pinning the motorcyclist to the ground in a view from the bridge captured by nearby motorists.
“A gentleman riding a motorcycle entered the crime scene in an attempt to pass and cross the bridge,” Superintendent Clayton McDonald told reporters.
“That man drove toward the police, who stopped in front of him and were able to arrest him.”

The incident left one police officer with “small bruises on his leg and some scratches on his hand.” The motorcyclist was taken to the Day Street police station.
Superintendent McDonald said initial investigations suggested the motorcycle was unregistered and the driver’s license was suspended.
He is expected to be charged with a series of driving offences.
Delays on the city side of the bridge caused traffic to back up to the Anzac Bridge and Western Interchange with queues stretching up to 12km.
Southbound lanes were closed for more than an hour after the crash, causing traffic to back up just south of Spit Junction.
Delays could continue to affect commuters for several hours after two lanes in both directions began to open at 4:15 p.m.
NSW Transport General Coordinator Howard Collins urged motorists to avoid the area and consider alternative routes, including those traveling to Qudos Bank Arena for the Olivia Rodrigo concert tonight.
New South Wales Police said a crime scene had been established. No arrests have been made.
The investigations continue.
