The authorities in Romania have grounded the MiG-21 aircraft in operation, after 61 years of flying.
Last year, the country’s Supreme Defense Council decided not to use these Soviet planes, following a number of tragic events in the country.
Last year saw the crash of a plane of this type in the province of Constanta. Over the past 30 years, Romania has lost a large number of aircraft and pilots due to similar events.
And the Romanian army replaced those aircraft with another “F-16”, sponsored by NATO. And from 2030, the Romanian army will also be supplied with the F-35 aircraft.
In a farewell ceremony, a squadron of MiG-21s took off and landed at the Romanian air base in Bacau, where they will be kept.
