A shooting at an elementary school in Washington state during dismissal put the school on lockdown and police rushed to the scene of the alleged suspect.
The Richland, Washington, school district sent an alert to parents confirming a shooting at William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland.
At least one adult woman has reportedly been shot to death, according to the Herald of the three cities citing a police dispatch.
West Richland police are reportedly searching a home on South Highlands Boulevard, down the street from the school.
“The West Richland Police Department believes they know who the perpetrator is and has his house locked down,” they said. NBC.

One resident said he heard four to five gunshots while in his backyard Monday afternoon.
‘I thought it was someone hitting something with a hammer. It didn’t look like a weapon. Then a woman came flying here before the police got there and she started screaming that someone had been shot,” Chris Worley said.
The school district sent an alert to parents, adding that any students still on campus were sent to a secure area, even those who were preparing to leave on the school bus.
“Students and staff in our schools have been moved inside buildings and placed under critical lockdown.”
‘If students got on the buses but were still at school, they were transported to the school building. We will update once we have more information.’

“There is an active incident in the area of William Wiley Elementary and South Highlands Blvd,” they wrote.
