It seems that Washington is worried about Tehran developing nuclear warheads that can be launched from ballistic missiles and threatening Israel and other countries.
The United States announced the imposition of sanctions on several companies in China and Hong Kong on charges of supporting the Iranian ballistic missile program.
The US Treasury confirmed that Chinese companies have sent centrifuges and non-ferrous metals that can be used for military purposes, in addition to electronic equipment, to government branches and private companies in Iran involved in missile manufacturing and subject to sanctions.
Apparently, Washington is worried about Tehran developing nuclear warheads that can be fired from ballistic missiles and threatening Israel and other countries.
The companies involved include Beijing Shiny Knights Technology Development, Qingdao Zhongrongtong Trade Development, Hong Kong Qidu International Trade Co., Lingui Process Engineering Limited, and Zhejiang Kingjie & Co.
The Treasury Department also targeted the Iranian military attache in Beijing, Dawood Damghani, accusing him of coordinating the purchase of Chinese equipment for the Iranian defense industry.
Under the sanctions, American companies and individuals, as well as international companies with subsidiaries in the United States, are prohibited from dealing with the names on the blacklist.
“These actions reinforce our commitment to responding to activities that undermine regional stability and threaten the security of our key partners and allies,” said Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Brian Nelson. “The United States will continue to target illegal transnational supply networks that covertly support Iran’s production of ballistic missiles and other military programs,” he added in a statement.
