Social media users were unimpressed with Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s initial reaction to video of the Baltimore bridge collapse Tuesday morning.

Bowser posted on X an unusual, ‘Oh no,’ in response to a post on miles long around 1:27 am

In a now-deleted post, Bowser responded on his personal account to X, formerly Twitter, around 7:00 a.m. about the horrific collapse in the neighboring city of Baltimore, Maryland, DC.

When asked to expand on the post, Bowser’s office referred DailyMail.com to a post the mayor made on her official X account two hours after her initial response.

“Our prayers are with our Baltimore neighbors and all those affected by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge,” Bowser wrote on X around 9:00 a.m.

He added: “This morning I contacted Mayor Scott (of Baltimore) and we are ready to support Baltimore in these difficult days ahead.”

Bowser posted on X, then deleted the post, saying “oh no” in response to the video and images of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on Tuesday.

Search and rescue efforts continue despite freezing water and little chance of finding alive victims.

Eight people were on the bridge at the time of the collision and six remain missing after people and cars plunged into the Patapsco River, Maryland’s transportation secretary said hours after the collision.

Despite their official response, X users did not quickly forget their initial simplistic reaction.

One user wrote on Mayor Bowser’s tweet: “This is coming from someone who commented on another tweet ‘OH NO.'” Don’t you have to attend an opening ceremony?

Another just posted a link to her now-deleted response to the Open Source Intelligence Monitor post.

The account posted on large container ship; A mass casualty incident has been declared with more than a dozen cars and many people are said to be in the water.

“Oh no,” Bowser replied.

Other government and state officials sent messages of prayer and offered assistance to Maryland and Baltimore in the wake of the tragedy that will affect the region for years to come.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis posted on X that he ordered his state’s emergency services to offer assistance to Maryland if they so desired.

“The State of Florida stands ready to help and our prayers are with the victims and first responders,” he wrote.
