Warthog covered with birds looks exactly like the Lion King Pumbaa character

This lifelike & # 39; Pumbaa & # 39; seemed to be trying to copy one of The Lion King's hit songs – proudly posing with ten colorful birds on his back as they sang.

The cute image, which mimics scenes from the Disney classic, shows an adult warthog that appears to be posing in front of the camera through a well, while a number of red-billed oxpeckers are sitting on its back.

The animals even seem like they are in the middle of a Disney hit, with some birds pictured with their mouths open.

Wildlife photographer Gary Jones, 53, made the image last month during a photography trip at Zimanga Private Game Reserve, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

Gary, from Buckley, North Wales, said: “Warthogs are really interesting subjects, and when these oxpeckers started to get on his back, that made for a really interesting picture.

& # 39; A lot of time has been spent waiting for animals to visit the water, it can be hectic with herds coming in or long periods.

& # 39; We had had a long night in the skin without sleeping, but many visits by buffalo, and then at first light the Warthogs started to appear.

& # 39; I felt a growing excitement when the birds started to land in numbers on [the warthog].

& # 39; Oxpeckers sit on certain mammals and get the ticks and other small parasites that are on the skin in the coats of these animals.

& # 39; It was just a fantastic experience to see them so close, but with all the oxpeckers on its back, it was just intriguing to see how the birds plucked the insects and ticks, even went into their ears.

& # 39; I thought it was great to have a fascinating insight into the behavior of both the warthog and the birds on it, and the way in which the birds show no fear and are completely relaxed. & # 39;

Gary said: & # 39; I didn't think at that time [the warthog looked like Pumbaa], but after showing the image to family, friends and on social media, many comparisons were made with Pumbaa.

& # 39; I have seen [The Lion King] only once, but for many I think they will only see many of these animals on TV or animation films.

& # 39; I'm sure [the warthog] was just happy to get a drink. It was at the end of a long hot dry season with little water in the reserve, so the well is a lifeline for many animals.
