Warren makes first campaign trip to New Hampshire …

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Senator Elizabeth Warren drove a presidential bid in New Hampshire, visiting the early primary state Saturday to deliver a message of economic populism and a clean government.

The Massachusetts Democrat brought its populist platform to about 450 potential voters at the Manchester Community College, with the goal of being rich and well-connected & # 39; and contending economic reforms in favor of the middle and lower classes.

"This is about who works the rules," she said. "Will it only be for the rich and well connected, or will it be for everyone?"

Then she made her pitch to a more select group at a house party in Concord, the capital of the state.

Warren promised "the biggest anti-corruption proposal since Watergate," but did not mention the likely inspiration for her proposal – President Donald Trump. "I think (Democrats) should talk about our positive vision," and not Trump, she told reporters afterwards.

The far-reaching reform plan that was unveiled in August would work hard against donations by lobbyists abroad and lobbyists, as well as launch an independent federal anti-corruption agency and demand that the judges of the Supreme Court be bound by the same ethical rules as other federal judges.

This was Warren's first visit to New Hampshire since the launch of a scouting committee for the 2020 campaign. In addition to advocating reforms in health care, student debt and minimum wages, he also hit the latest news with a call to end the continued partial closure of the federal government, which is now the longest in history.

"Federal workers are no pawns," she told a crowd of about 60 people squeezed into a Concord living room. "(Opening of the government) is now the task of the US Senate, and we have votes to do it, and (senate leader of the Senate) Mitch McConnell stops us."

When Senator Bernie Sanders pronounces another presidential run, Warren could see a strong opponent in the New Hampshire Primary, who took Vermont's independent inlence in 2016 with a margin of 22 points from Hillary Clinton.

But Warren's supporters saw Saturday that Sanders' moment was over and left her to record the progressive flag.

"Bernie is great, his politics is exactly what he was," said John Schipp, from Wolfeboro, N.H. "But I think we need someone who is a little younger, a bit stronger." He added: "Someone with massive attraction, someone who has a comb."

Warren will also ask stubborn questions about her claims on Cherokee heritage. This fall, she released a DNA test on President Trump's "Pocahontas" punches against her, but was faced with the adversity of indigenous tribesmen who felt that the distant connection revealed by the test was an unfair comparison. with their own native ties.

Demonstrators at the entrance to the Manchester Community College recalled that dispute, with one demonstrator carrying an improvised headdress of feathers and others holding signs with the text & Taxation Is Theft & # 39 ;.

Other prominent Democrats have already jumped into the race, including Tulsi Gabbard, a congressman from Hawaii, and Julian Castro, a former secretary of housing and urban development under Barack Obama.

Although Warren did not formally state her candidacy, she seemed well on the way to the campaign path, and told the supporters "this is a grassroots campaign", one without unexplained PAC money or lobbyist donations.
