A woman has said she will “never shop at B&M again” after their cheap beers exploded during her family’s Christmas dinner and sickened her partner, who suffers from cancer.

She said: ‘The whole Dockyard and the whole Doom Bar were very outdated. This wasn’t just one bottle, it was all of them.

‘This is a big retailer, this is appalling. We can’t have been the only ones who bought them.

He said store staff were not interested in his concerns and he did not receive an apology from anyone.

Miss Proctor said she then informed trading standards about the expired beers.

Mr John was taken to the doctor on Boxing Day as a precaution due to his illness.

A B&M spokesperson said: ‘B&M’s policies and procedures are designed to support high standards of store compliance.

‘We take reports of this nature very seriously and have resolved this issue with the store by ensuring the product has been removed from shelves and reminding staff of the correct processes to prevent this from happening again.

“We sincerely apologize to the customer for this oversight and are in contact with them to address their concerns and reassure them that this is an isolated incident.”
