Police have charged a former Sydney estate agent after allegedly finding drugs hidden in the boot of his car.

Arvind Pillay, 36, was working as a real estate agent in Sydney’s northwest when he was spotted in his white Mercedes at a known drug spot in Redfern in January.

The former Raine & Horne Quakers Hill estate agent appeared nervous when police informed him the area was known for drug supply, to which Pillay replied: “That’s disgusting,” court papers claim.

Police realized the 36-year-old was on probation for drug trafficking and decided to search his car after discovering an ice tube allegedly protruding from the driver’s side door.

Nearly 50 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin were allegedly found inside ziplock bags in the trunk of his car.

Also allegedly found inside the ziplock bags was a business card from the community corrections office, where he reports while on parole.

Pillay was arrested and taken to Mascot police station, where he was charged with supplying drugs and goods suspected of theft.

Police searched one of the four phones Pillay allegedly had in his possession and found a large number of text messages sent to a friend about the search and arrest.

“Bro, I’m being searched and arrested,” Pillay wrote to a friend.

Another message said: ‘I’m going to go to jail… Please come down and say it was yours.’ I’ll pay for everything.’

Pillay has been in custody since his arrest and has not yet entered a plea to the charges against him. It is understood he will apply for his release in the coming weeks.
