A waiter has revealed the disgusting reason why you should never ask for lemon or lime in your drink while dining out.

Adrianah Lee, a popular YouTube creator and waitress living in the US, recently went viral on TikTok after sharing something horrible she discovered while working in the restaurant business.

The social media star issued a stern warning about adding garnishes to a drink, as she explained that bartenders put them in the glasses themselves, sometimes after “touching money” or “other people’s plates.”

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but in a restaurant, don’t put a lemon in your water,” he warned in the videowhich has already been viewed more than 168,000 times.

‘The moment I became a waiter, I realized I would never ask for a lemon in my water again.

‘Because first, you know that servers put it on themselves, right? They’re touching money, they’re touching other people’s plates… They’re touching all kinds of things.

‘And yes, obviously the waiters wash their hands frequently, but when you are serving a table and (the customer says), ‘Let me have four waters with lemon,’ they just put them on. I know this because I am a servant.’

Adrianah added that the waitresses are also responsible for cutting the lemons and, although she wears gloves when she does it, she can’t “account for anyone else.”

He also stated that the products used for the drinks “are never washed.”

“When I’m at home, I wash all my produce, but I’ve never seen a lemon washed in a restaurant in my life,” she continued.

‘I’ve worked in a lot of restaurants, I’ve worked in five-star places, I’ve worked in coffee shops. I’m worried.’

The waitress said there are “many” other things she learned working in restaurants that she’s “turned a blind eye to,” but she just had to share the lemon bite, which probably applies to limes, too.

‘I just (can’t) get over it. I don’t know about you, but I will never ask for a lemon in my water. And if I see one I take it out immediately,’ he concluded. “Don’t put a lemon in your water.”

“It’s literally fine,” one person wrote. Another added: “And… the world kept turning.”

“I’m a waiter but I always drink lemon water, I don’t care it’s so good,” someone else shared.

“This is so true, but I’m still getting that lemon… Out of sight, out of mind,” read a fourth comment.

A fifth said: “I’m still going to order lemon.” I’m sure I’ve been exposed to worse. I have to build that immune system somehow.”

A few other servers chimed in and admitted they had very different experiences.

‘Don’t you use tongs? It was mandatory and we ALWAYS had to wear gloves and wash the lemons,” wrote one.

“At my work there are small tongs for lime and lemon slices,” another agreed.

‘At the place where I work we wash the lemons, cut them with gloves, skewer them with a toothpick and put it on top of the drink. I guess it depends on where you work,” someone else explained.
