Vice President Mike Pence took the stage to boo him vociferously at his home state’s National Rifle Association (NRA) annual leadership summit.
“I love you, too,” Pence quipped at the Indianapolis event, speaking an hour before former President Trump.
Pence has called for the mass shootings to be executed as soon as possible, blaming trans people and mental illness for the country’s chronic gun violence.
I’m tired of the senseless violence and loss of life that could be prevented if our leaders would support law enforcement, protect our schools, institutionalize clear mentally ill people, and enact legislation that would ensure that anyone who engages in these heinous acts of mass violence faces their fate in the face of mass violence, Pence said. “We don’t need gun control,” Pence added. “We need to fight crime.”
The former vice president called on armed guards in public and private schools in the United States to “respond to mass shootings not by reducing the number of weapons,” he said. “It’s more of a corporate mental health.”
“Ignoring the motives of the trans activist who murdered three children and three adults at that Christian school in Nashville, and the ‘mental health challenges’ of the man who killed five people and wounded eight others in Louisville, President Biden and the Democrats have returned to the same weary arguments about gun control and forfeiture.” Pence said.

Pence called on the United States to “return to institutional mental health facilities.”
Pence spoke to the crowd before Trump. His fellow rivals and close allies are now preparing a political duel against each other if Pence goes ahead with his plans to enter the presidential race.
Trump’s remarks were his first public appearances since his arrest and trial in New York last week on criminal charges stemming from silent payments.

A day earlier, Trump spent eight hours in the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James in her $250 million lawsuit alleging fraud in his business practices.

Last year’s NRA convention was held in Houston, Texas days after 19 children and two adults were killed by a gunman a few hundred miles west in Uvalde, Texas.
Undeterred by the shooting, however, League President Wayne LaPierre said that “gun-hating politicians should never sleep in fear of what this Association and all of our millions of members can do to their political lives.”
