VP Mike Pence Receives Boos as He Advocates for Expedited Executions of Mass Shooters at NRA Conference

Date:

Mike Pence calls for ‘swift executions’ of NRA convention mass shootings: VP confined to his home in speech calling for ‘institutionalization of those who appear mentally ill’ and slamming ‘trans activist’ in Nashville school killings

  • “I love you, too,” Pence quipped at the Indianapolis event, speaking an hour before former President Trump.
  • The former vice president called for armed guards in all schools and the expansion of mental health institutions in the United States

Vice President Mike Pence took the stage to boo him vociferously at his home state’s National Rifle Association (NRA) annual leadership summit.

“I love you, too,” Pence quipped at the Indianapolis event, speaking an hour before former President Trump.

Pence has called for the mass shootings to be executed as soon as possible, blaming trans people and mental illness for the country’s chronic gun violence.

I’m tired of the senseless violence and loss of life that could be prevented if our leaders would support law enforcement, protect our schools, institutionalize clear mentally ill people, and enact legislation that would ensure that anyone who engages in these heinous acts of mass violence faces their fate in the face of mass violence, Pence said. Months, not years.

“We don’t need gun control,” Pence added. “We need to fight crime.”

The former vice president called on armed guards in public and private schools in the United States to “respond to mass shootings not by reducing the number of weapons,” he said. “It’s more of a corporate mental health.”

“Ignoring the motives of the trans activist who murdered three children and three adults at that Christian school in Nashville, and the ‘mental health challenges’ of the man who killed five people and wounded eight others in Louisville, President Biden and the Democrats have returned to the same weary arguments about gun control and forfeiture.” Pence said.

The Covenant Christian School shooter in Nashville used male pronouns on social media.

Pence called on the United States to “return to institutional mental health facilities.”

Pence spoke to the crowd before Trump. His fellow rivals and close allies are now preparing a political duel against each other if Pence goes ahead with his plans to enter the presidential race.

Trump’s remarks were his first public appearances since his arrest and trial in New York last week on criminal charges stemming from silent payments.

A day earlier, Trump spent eight hours in the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James in her $250 million lawsuit alleging fraud in his business practices.

Trump and another Republican presidential candidate — former Vice President Mike Pence — speak to gun rights activists at the NRA convention in Indianapolis.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, and the UN ambassador, the other three GOP presidential candidates, also appear via video messages.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and candidate Vivek Ramaswamy appear in person, as do Indiana Sen. Mike Brown and Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.

The conference is taking place in the wake of mass shootings in Kentucky and Tennessee – this week a gunman killed five people at a bank in Louisville, Kentucky. Three weeks ago, a shooter killed three children and three adults at an elementary school in Nashville.

The conference also marks the anniversary of the Indianapolis mass shooting that killed 9 people at a Fedex facility.

Last year’s NRA convention was held in Houston, Texas days after 19 children and two adults were killed by a gunman a few hundred miles west in Uvalde, Texas.

Undeterred by the shooting, however, League President Wayne LaPierre said that “gun-hating politicians should never sleep in fear of what this Association and all of our millions of members can do to their political lives.”
