Yes Parliament campaigner Marcia Langton calls No voters ‘racist and stupid’
Prominent Indigenous leader and yes campaigner Marcia Langton did not accuse any voters of opposing the referendum due to “gross racism” or “plain stupidity”.
Professor Langton made the comments at a forum in Bunbury, Western Australia, and said Australians needed to pay more attention to the No campaign’s claims.
“Every time the No cases raise their arguments, if you start to dismantle them, you get to base racism – I’m sorry to say that’s where it lands – or sheer stupidity,” said Professor Langton.
“If you look at any reputable fact checker, every single one of them says no is essentially false. They’re lying to you.’
“I asked the No voters, what do you think would be the best option? What do we have to do? Continue as we are, without change?
“I haven’t heard any of them come up with a solution that would work themselves.”

The event was said to have taken place on the Edith Cowan University campus according to local newspaper the Bunbury Herald, but the institution denied hosting it.
Professor Langton appeared alongside local Labor MP Don Punch, who is believed to have hosted the forum.
His comments come after the Prime Minister’s Office stressed to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday the need for a “respectful debate” on the Voice referendum.
