The anonymous commenter, from the USA, lamented that country western music was “overshadowing everything” following the series’ release on Monday.
It seemed like a criticism of the singers who have been chosen as judges with the current lineup of Chance the Rapper, Reba McEntire, John Legend and Dan + Shay replacing the former one direction star Niall Horan.

The post, which was uploaded less than 24 hours after the premiere, read: ‘I can’t be the only person upset that Country Western (CW) is overshadowing everything.
‘If the CW had its own show, it would be better. If the music industry chose the winner it would also be better. Voting in the United States is a disaster.
He continued: ‘Some of the best singers in the world would have been eliminated from the show. That’s ridiculous.
‘Normally I watch until the voting starts. This year, that double team trick makes everything unwatchable for me.’

But on the other hand, other fans of the show understood why the genre is prevalent today.
One person wrote: ‘Several Voice alums have had success on country radio (which, by the way, is what it’s generally called now, simply “country,” as opposed to the old “country and western”). So yes, country artists will be performing.”
A second person wrote: ‘The show is simply following the trend of the current state of music. Country music is very popular right now.
