A Democrat campaigning for a hotly contested seat in the Virginia House of Delegates has seen her popularity plummet since it emerged she engaged in sex acts with her husband for money online.
Susanna Gibson, a 40-year-old nurse practitioner, is fighting to save her campaign after the Washington Post’s 9/11 revelations.
Gibson said reporting on the videos was “an unlawful invasion of my privacy intended to humiliate me and my family,” and said she refused to be “intimidated and silenced.”
But voters appear discouraged by the revelations and are solidifying behind his Republican opponent, David Owen, a civil engineer and owner of a home construction company.
Before the Washington Post report, Owen was ahead of Gibson by 4 percent.

A new Cygnal survey, obtained by the New York Postputs Owen ahead by 11 percent: Owen is at 49.5 percent and Gibson is at 38.9 percent.
Gibson’s disapproval rating rose from 12.5 percent to 45.2 percent among the district’s likely voters.
And his popularity rating increased from 28.1 percent to 27.3 percent between August and September.
Gibson, a mother of two, has rejected calls for her to drop out of the race in Virginia.
She was seen in her leafy hometown on September 16 as she continues to fight for a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Gibson then criticized her rivals for trying to derail her campaign ahead of the November 7 vote.
“My political opponents and their Republican allies have proven they are willing to commit a sex crime to attack me and my family, because there is no line they won’t cross to silence women when “They are speaking out,” she said.
The political candidate’s newly discovered videos were posted to Chaturbate, a platform that says it gets its name from “the act of masturbating while chatting online.”
Videos on the site are streamed live without a password and often archived on other publicly accessible sites.
Under the username Gibson, she had more than a dozen videos archived on another site, Recurbate, as of September 2022, after her participation in the race.

Exclusive photos obtained by DailyMail.com show porn contestant Susanna Gibson in daisy dukes and a white tank top at her home in Henrico, Virginia.

Gibson, pictured above with her husband, is running for a highly competitive seat in suburban Richmond.

Gibson works as a nurse practitioner and is a mother of two, in addition to being a contestant and amateur porn star.
It is unclear when exactly the live broadcasts took place. His username had 5,770 followers.
Gibson can be seen in the videos asking viewers for “tips” to request specific sexual acts – in violation of Chaturbate’s terms and conditions, which say: “Asking or requiring specific acts for advice may result in a ban from the platform for all parties involved. .’
In a clip obtained by DailyMail.com, Gibson tells her husband: “I’ll let you fuck me doggy style in a private room if anyone wants to pay.” That’s the deal.
At another point she says: “You can all watch me pee if you give me a tip and some tokens – again, I’m raising money for a good cause.” »
In another, Gibson explains that she has an open relationship with her husband even though he “doesn’t like to share.”
“Yeah, I fuck random strangers if you’re hot,” she said.
“We tried to exchange. I was talking to them earlier about ethical non-monogamy.
“We, uh…he doesn’t like to share.”

Signs in support of his candidacy still dot the chic enclave where neocolonial homes line leafy streets and where, on any given day, residents can be found enjoying the neighborhood racquet club’s tennis courts or swimming pool common.
Gibson said the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade was what propelled her into political life.
She won the Democratic primary in June and is running against Owen in what is one of the most competitive districts in the state.
Owen has not commented on the scandal beyond saying he is “sure this is a difficult time for Susanna and her family” and that he “remains focused” on his own campaign.
Gibson and Owen are competing in the 57th District, an area that includes wealthy Richmond suburbs in Henrico and Goochland counties.
The district went for Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in 2021 by a 51.2% margin, but in the 2020 congressional midterm elections the split was 50% Democratic to 49.1% Republican.
