Democrats in Virginia prepare to troll Donald Trump during his visit with billboards

Democrats in Virginia are ready for Donald Trump’s arrival for a Saturday rally and have reserved dozens of electronic billboards to display poll results showing him trailing Kamala Harris by 10 points in the state.

Trump is taking time out in the seven battleground states to campaign in a state where Republican presidential candidates haven’t won since 2004.

And a poll released a day before her visit showed Harris strengthening her hold and extending her lead over Trump to 10 points in the state.

The results of the Roanoke College poll will be displayed on billboards along the route Trump’s motorcade is expected to take, according to a source familiar with the plan.

“The Democrats have bought all the signs from the airport to the rally site to rub their nose in it,” the source said.

According to an image shared with DailyMail.com, the ads read: ‘Roanoke College poll: Harris leads Trump by 10 points in VA.’

“Paid for by the Virginia Democratic Party.”

The bold messages will be posted at noon.

Trump campaigned in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday and is scheduled to visit Salem on Saturday.

Last Sunday he held a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Trump’s advisers believe he is far ahead in the race and is benefiting from early voting that makes him competitive in states he would not normally be expected to win.

Appearing in expected places generates media coverage and promotes a sense of strength, they say.

But this carries risks. Seven states are expected to decide the outcome of the election: Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Hillary Clinton was criticized in 2016 for not spending enough time in Wisconsin, Michigan or Pennsylvania.

The magnitude of the task Trump faces in Virginia was illustrated in the Roanoke College poll.

It found that 51 percent of likely voters said they planned to vote for Harris. Only 41 percent said they supported Trump.

It’s a marked change from Aug. 20, when Harris had just a three-point lead.

The national outlook is better for Trump. The final Daily Mail.com/JL Partners poll before Election Day found the former president had a three-point lead over his opponent.
