A New York City influencer is facing ridicule and support online after she posted a video of a date in the Hamptons, one that critics said was staged.
Taylor Paige describes herself as “a trained dancer turned executive assistant at a major investment firm turned lifestyle and fashion influencer.”
On Sunday, Paige posted a video describing how “a rich man took me on a date to the Hamptons.”
The video showed her being ejected from Manhattan and then boarding a motorboat to cross the water. She showed a restaurant, Rumba, in Hampton Bays, where she said she had a lunch that included ribs.
Critics, including the thousands who commented on social media, noted that she only filmed herself, with no one else apparently being there. Some said the entire ‘date’ was arranged for his 4,400 followers.
“This is borderline,” said one user on a New York City-focused site who shared the video. ‘Please feature real New Yorkers instead of transplanted nobodys.’
Taylor Paige, a New York City influencer, shared a video with her 4,400 followers on Sunday in which she said she was on a “date” with a rich man.

Paige said her ‘date’ allowed her to pilot the boat, but critics called the video fake as she never showed it to her partner.
Paige’s video began by explaining that her date “had to get me an Uber” to get her out of town, which picked her up and took her to the marina.
She filmed the white boat and then herself sitting in it, saying that he told her to relax.
Paige filmed the Rumba Caribbean restaurant at Shinnecock Bay in Hampton Bays and showed off the cocktails but not the food: although she did say the ribs were delicious.
“It’s a good place to go if you’re going with someone who has a boat,” he said.
When he was gone, he went back to the boat and took a nap. That comment generated a lot of comments online with some claiming that she and her date did more than sleep.
Paige then filmed herself at the beach before heading back to town, showing herself sitting on plastic Dunkin Donuts bags in the car because she said her dress was still wet.
She was then shown piloting the boat and sitting on a beach before heading back to Manhattan.
Some immediately found the video questionable.
“Looks like someone went on a solo trip and tried to play it like a date,” one commenter said.
I carefully edited the videos so we never see the rich man. Notice that you forgot to record the food, but not the drinks. Easy to order two drinks to record. I’m not going to order two plates of food to play like someone was there.
‘If this rich man wanted to hide his identity, she could have shot him from the neck down or recorded his hands or feet. Yeah, I’ve seen people do that trick before.

Paige told her followers that “a rich man” took her on a date that began with a super trip from New York City.

Paige never showed her date, she only showed images of herself, in the viral video shared online

It also showed the Hampton Bays restaurant where they said they had lunch, Rumba

Paige filmed two drinks but didn’t show any food, which critics said was because she didn’t want to pay for two meals when she was really alone.

Paige claimed that after lunch, she and her date sat on the beach.

Social media users were quick to blast the post or defend Paige and her video.
Another commenter said: ‘You had your phone out for most of the date. It must have been exciting for your company.
“That was a Groupon deal,” said one.
Paige herself has not responded to DailyMail.com’s request for comment, but laughed off the criticism online.
‘Sir, here we go with the comments!’ she wrote. “Some will be all hate, some will be sweet, but either way I’ll be ENTERTAINED.”
‘Everyone is so creative! These comments have me weak,’ she added.
Some said the sentence was racist.
“Most of the people in the comments are just mad because they don’t like seeing black women pampered,” said one supporter.
“It’s an amazing experience for her,” said another.
“If I were to tell this man that she’s a content creator, letting her record her experience shouldn’t be a big deal.” That’s how you get paid! So I don’t see the problem,” said a sign. ‘That was also a date bomb.’
