Vincent Kompany’s hopes to sign Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard for £2million have expired

Kompany is looking to rebuild Burnley’s squad after their relegation from the Premier League saw them lose veteran stalwarts Nick Pope, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

However, his hopes of bolstering a meager defense were dealt a blow after a £2million deal to sign Arsenal’s Daniel Ballard failed.

Despite the 22-year-old traveling to Turf Moor for a medical, the two sides were unable to agree on terms. the athletic

Ballard has yet to play for the Gunners but has enjoyed successful loan spells at Blackpool and Millwall and has also played for Northern Ireland.

He made 33 appearances for Millwall from the Championship last season and initially impressed in 30 League One appearances for Blackpool in 2020/21.

That also applies to the 15 caps he has earned for his country after his 2020 debut in the Nations League against Romania.
