McMahon purchased what was then known as the WWF in 1982 from his father after working as a ringside announcer, and soon built it into an international entertainment powerhouse.

The wrestling mogul’s recognizable voice opens the clip.

“People wonder who I really am. There’s an image of me that says I’m a bad guy, but nobody really knows me.”

Legends from wrestling’s golden era, including The Rock, John Cena, Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin, remember McMahon through clips of the businessman drinking beer in the ring and dancing on stage during old shows.

The trailer then runs through a quick biography of the 79-year-old starting with his acquisition of the company and ending in the present day, through some of the high points of Wrestlemania and the low points of various scandals, including alleged steroid use among wrestlers and a lawsuit that led to him stepping down.

The streaming service announced the series last week alongside an official poster, writing that the series “chronicles the rise and fall of the controversial WWE founder.”

Mr. McMahon is produced by Tiger King producer Chris Smith and Bill Simmons.

The program includes interviews with McMahon before his resignation, his family and some of the most iconic names in wrestling history, as well as the journalists who uncovered McMahon’s allegations.

While in charge, McMahon took the promotion to new heights. Part of his expansion included acquiring rivals ECW and WCW in the early 2000s.

The charismatic character would continue to play a major role behind the scenes by regularly appearing in front of the camera before stepping down as WWE CEO in 2022.
