Disturbing text messages, some of which discuss incest role-playing, allegedly show years of abuse and harassment by a Massachusetts police officer who was charged with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend.
Matthew Farwell, 38, is accused of killing 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore in February 2021, just weeks after she told him she was pregnant with his child.
Court documents seen by DailyMail.com show alleged text messages revealing the two began their relationship when Birchmore was a minor, aged just 15, and that Farwell continued to fantasise about having sex with her as if she were still underage.
In a text message exchange on February 21, 2020, Farwell allegedly described pinning Birchmore down during sex as part of their sick role-play fantasy, asking her: ‘Would you say “Matt, stop, I’m 13, I’m not ready for this, oh my god, please stop”?’
Investigators also noted that Farwell asked Birchmore to pretend to be his brother during their next sexual encounter, and that after asking Birchmore how old he would pretend to be, Farwell said “14” along with a winking face emoji.
Sandra Birchmore, 23, was three months pregnant when she was killed in February 2021.
Matthew Farwell, 38, is accused of killing her to prevent her from talking about their relationship and his alleged criminal conduct.
That same day, the two allegedly discussed when they began their sexual relationship and Farwell admitted he was interested in having sex with Birchmore in 2012, when she was 14.
“What was the first day you said, ‘Oh my God, I want this guy to be my first, I want to feel him inside me,'” Farwell said.
“Yeah, so in 2012 I finally decided I was going to try and find a way to fuck you, but I wasn’t sure how to do it,” Birchmore replied.
“I definitely would have fucked you in (2012),” Farwell said, according to court documents.
Police say Farwell, who is married with children, was motivated to kill her to prevent her from speaking out about the relationship, exposing not only an extramarital affair that spanned years but also alleged criminal conduct.
Birchmore joined the Stoughton Police Explorers Program in 2010, which was dedicated to teaching youth about careers in law enforcement, when she was 12. Farwell was an instructor for the program.
On June 19, 2020, Birchmore and Farwell allegedly texted her about his past sexual abuse and admitted that he could have forced her to do whatever he wanted.
“Haha, if I had pushed, I could have fucked you without a condom from day one,” Farwell said, according to authorities.
“Probably, if you had really insisted,” Birchmore said. “At first, I was a little scared to say no because I didn’t know how you would take it, so you wouldn’t have had condoms, lol.”
When Birchmore found out she was pregnant in late 2020, she drew the father-to-be a card to celebrate.
“Congratulations, we’re going to be parents! 2021,” the text read. It was adorned with rainbow drawings and animal stickers.
Text messages revealed that the former police officer had a tendency to strangle the young woman and acted out incestuous role-play fantasies with her.
Birchmore joined the Stoughton Police Explorer Program in 2010, when she was 12, and Farwell was an instructor for the program.
The 23-year-old sent a photo of the card to Farwell, sparking an argument over whether she would sign the birth certificate.
“You are truly the worst person on the face of the earth,” Farwell told Birchmore.
Birchmore was three months pregnant when she was found dead inside her home in 2021.
Her death was initially believed to be a suicide, but a pathologist hired by her family disagreed with that assessment and argued that she had been murdered.
Police now allege that Farwell “staged her body and apartment to make it appear as if Birchmore had committed suicide.”
