Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested in Southern California on a DUI charge Friday night. According to Luca Evans of the OC Register.

Officers said Addison was “asleep at the wheel” of a white Rolls-Royce that stopped blocking a freeway lane near Los Angeles International Airport shortly after 11 p.m. Friday. Addison was arrested about a half-hour later after a DUI investigation was completed. He was released from jail about two hours later.

Addison was officially charged on suspicion of drunk driving.

“We are aware of the arrest of Jordan Addison last Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement Sunday. by Kevin Seifert of ESPN.

The incident is the second driving issue Addison has had with the Vikings in his career. He was cited for reckless driving last July just before training camp began after driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone in his Lamborghini Urus in the Minneapolis area. Addison was not arrested in that incident, though he later agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge and pay a fine.

Addison began his college career at Pittsburgh, where he racked up 1,593 yards on 100 receptions and won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top wide receiver each season, in his sophomore campaign. He then transferred to USC for one final season, where he teamed up with new Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in Los Angeles.

The Vikings selected Addison with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He had 911 receiving yards, third-most on the team behind receiver Justin Jefferson and tight end TJ Hockenson, and had 10 touchdowns in his rookie campaign. The Vikings went 7-10 last season and missed the playoffs for the third time in the past four seasons.

The Vikings are scheduled to open training camp on July 27 in the Minneapolis area.
