Vigilante ex-prison official murders sex offender after seeing him ‘learning to schoolchildren’
- James Fairbanks, 43, admitted to killing sex offender Mattieo Condoluci, 64
- Fairbanks worked with underprivileged children at Morton Middle School
- His ex-wife jumped to his defense today calling him a ‘protector’ who took care of ‘victims of children’
A vigilante ex-prison guard has been arrested for murdering a pedophile after seeing him lurking at school children in his area.
James Fairbanks, 43, who worked with troubled children at the Morton Middle School in Omaha, admitted he murdered 64-year-old convicted sex offender Mattieo Condoluci on Thursday night.
Fairbanks confessed in an email sent to newspapers and broadcasters this weekend, disguising his identity with the address ‘Stop Predators’, with ‘I killed Matteio Condoluci Thursday, May 14’ as the subject line.
The 43-year-old father was arrested by the Omaha police within a day of receipt.
Kelly Tamayo, the ex-wife of Fairbanks, told KETV that her ex-husband said he would “turn himself in” and asked her to “take care of the children.”

In his confession email, Fairbanks tells how Condoluci stared at nearby children pretending to wash his car.
The 43-year-old then went to see him and found him in the sex offender’s registry.
“I have no doubt that Jim, like all parents, was disgusted with the man’s actions and wished for justice,” Tamayo wrote in a text message.
“Again, I want Jim to be known to be a protector who cared for some of the most vulnerable and victimized children.”
She also asked that Nebraska Development Services create “a special prize for him.”
She said that many of the children he worked with were victims of sexual abuse.

In the email, the sender wrote, “Having had my own experience with predators like this, I know what damage he would do to those kids.
“I have worked with children who have been victims for years and I could not in good conscience allow him to do it to someone else while I had the means to stop him.”
He added, “I know in this screwed up legal system that this means that I will get a much heavier sentence for stopping him than (sic) he did for raping KIDS.”
Condoluci was convicted in 2007 of sexually assaulting a child.
Fairbanks and Tamayo divorced in 2016, but managed to co-parent their children.
She called him a caring father.
Tamayo said her ex may have been caused by working with perpetrators in the past. She said he had “mixed feelings of great sadness for the victims,” while frustrated by the perpetrators who repeatedly expressed their desire to harm children.
Fairbanks has no known history of violent crimes, and Tamayo said his family is amazed at the murder, KETV reported.
