Areas in South Kivu province were hit by floods on Thursday night, two days after rains hit neighboring Rwanda, whose government on Saturday pledged about $100 million to repair the damage.
More than 390 bodies were found. 142 in Buchocho, 132 in Nyamukopio, and 120 bodies were found floating in Lake Kivu.”
An unconfirmed toll on Friday night reported that more than 170 people were killed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Many villages were flooded, many houses were swept away and fields were destroyed after rivers overflowed due to heavy rains.
