To date, more than 4,000 people have been reported missing in Mexico, according to the National Registry of the Disappeared. While researchers and activists say the real number is much higher.
Mexico is witnessing violence linked to drug trafficking, and increasing struggles between gangs for influence. The report indicated that more than 52,000 unidentified dead are currently lying in mass graves.
