A surprising video showed the moment a woman abandoned a girl at a door in the Bronx before disappearing.
Surveillance footage captured the hooded woman, wearing light pants, white sneakers, a dark winter coat and a black face mask, placing the baby outside a home on Reverend James Polite Avenue in Longwood on Sunday around 5:39. A.M.
The unidentified woman carried the baby in a reusable green shopping bag as they walked down the sidewalk.
He then stopped in front of several houses before turning around, opening a door and leaving the place without the bag in his hand.
Mamadou Hafiz Jallow, the owner of the house, received a phone call from a neighbor informing him that a baby was crying outside moments after he left his house that morning.
Jallow told his neighbor to call 911 as he ran back, thinking “let me go find out because this is sensitive,” he told DailyMail.com.
When he arrived, he saw the green bag at the door of his house, he looked inside and saw the naked girl wrapped in pink and white blankets.
‘I was scared. I felt compassionate. I feel sorry for the child,’ Jallow recalled, adding that he quickly took the abandoned baby inside and called the police again.

Surveillance footage captured her walking down the sidewalk before turning around and leaving the girl at Mamadou Hafiz Jallow’s door.
Around 6:05 a.m., NYPD officers responded to his home. Jallow said they stayed there for a while until doctors arrived to take the baby to the hospital.
The homeowner said he believes the girl was only a few days old. News12 reported the Bronx.
The abandoned baby was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition and is expected to survive.
She is currently under the care of hospital staff while the NYPD attempts to locate the woman who abandoned her.
Although he was scared at the time, Jallow said, “At the same time, I’m happy that I saved his life.” I just want the baby to be safe.’
Distraught residents of the area were also left in disbelief at the shocking discovery, as one man said. Fox 5: “I can’t understand how anyone is going to do that.”
“Hearing about this happening is very disturbing for this neighborhood,” another woman told the outlet.
A neighbor notified Jallow that the baby was outside her house after hearing him crying. She then took the baby inside and called 911 again.
She was then seen stopping in front of several houses on the street before turning around, opening a door and leaving the scene without the bag in her hand.
Donnell Warden, one of Jallow’s other neighbors, said the whole situation was “very shocking.”
“If the mother didn’t want the child, or whatever the circumstances were, you would think they would give it to the opposite side of the family or would do better to give it to the police or something like that,” said Warden, a father. of four, he said.
In New York State, a parent can surrender an unwanted baby for up to 30 days without being charged under the Abandoned Child Protection Law.
The adult would not face charges for surrendering a baby if they do so in a safe place, including a hospital, police or fire station.
They are also not required to give their name when they do so, according to the law.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. The NYPD has urged the public to report any information related to the incident.
