John Irias saw the violent interaction happening and ran to help him before being slashed by the woman who had a box cutter in her hands.
The attack took place on May 26 in South Los Angeles just before 8 a.m. and involved the woman, without provocation, punching the girl with one blow, sending the victim to the ground.
“I saw the homeless man right in front of me hit the little girl in the face,” Irias said. KTLA, saying he took action. “That’s when I ran to help.
The man said he was thinking of his own daughter and knew he had to act.
“There should be more people who should stand up to the criminals,” Irias said.

In an interview with FOX 11Irias said the woman who attacked the girl was yelling profanity at the victim during the attack.
“She was shouting racial slurs. She was like, “I’m sick of you Hispanics,” he said of the homeless abuser.
“It was just a random attack, just a hate crime. Luckily I was wearing my glasses and when she cut my face, my glasses actually helped save my eyeballs,” he said. declared.
The video shows the girl walking peacefully down the street with her backpack on as the homeless woman swings towards her.
The blow brought the girl to the sidewalk and out of sight of the camera.
Fortunately, Irias said he saw what was happening and ran.
The video showed Irias pushing the girl’s attacker away. He held the woman until the police arrived on the scene.
However, he suffered a large gash to his face caused by box cutters.
“The homeless man pulled out a gun and before I could find out what it was I went to get taken down and was slashed in the face,” he said.
Victor Camarena, a friend of Irias who was across the street, heard the din and ran to help him.
“By then John already has the suspect on the floor,” Camarena told KTLA.
“He squirts blood down the side of his face, wondering if it’s bad. I’m like, ‘That’s pretty bad bro,’ the viewer said of the injury Irias suffered.

The homeless woman was arrested by the LAPD. It is not known if any charges have been filed. His name has not been disclosed.
