An Alabama homeowner surprised a so-called burglar with a gun after he caught the man trying to break into the house.

Security video of a house in McCalla – about 20 miles from Birmingham – caught a man in a red shirt and jeans open the gate of a house on the 3500 block of Batton Road on Tuesday around 6pm.

The man lingers at the gate for a few seconds before he crosses the porch, opens the storm door, and tries to enter.

But he is shocked when the owner, Shelby Tucker, runs towards him with a gun and the suspect runs into the woods.

Tucker's wife, Paula Brasher Tucker, shared details about the incident in a Facebook message on Tuesday.

She said that when she first heard someone at the door, she thought it was a UPS delivery person.
