Victoria records 182 new coronavirus cases and 13 deaths as infections continue to decline – putting pressure on Dan Andrews to ease lockdown
The controversial state of Victoria has registered fewer than 200 new cases of coronavirus two days in a row as the number of infections continues to decline.
Victoria reported 182 new infections and 13 additional deaths on Saturday.
The new numbers come after the state reported 179 cases on Friday, the lowest daily number since 177 infections on July 13.
Victorian chief health officer Brett Sutton was asked what daily case numbers he wanted to see to ensure the gradual reopening of the state when the lockdown ends on Sept. 13.
“I’d like us to be under 50,” Professor Sutton said Friday.
“I’d be really happy if we were in single digits, but I’m not convinced we will be.”
